Word Add-in: Updated Interface and Navigation

Understand what short term changes are coming to the Word add-in, ahead of bigger changes to come

We’re developing a new Word add-in designed to enhance your contract review and negotiation experience with powerful new features.

Here's what's coming soon:

• Document tracking: the Summize Word add-in will recognise when it’s seen a version of a document before, giving you quick access to the associated Request, and all its information (tasks, conversations, summaries, template responses, etc). 

• Requests via Word Desktop: Open a Request from the Summize web app directly in Word Desktop (just like you can today in Word for Web). 
• Check in/Check out: Check out documents to prevent version control issues, then check in a new version, all within Word. 
• Legal Front Door: Create and submit new Requests directly from Word, so you never have to leave your document. 

• Real time messaging: Notify colleagues instantly when documents are checked in or out, without requiring a page refresh. 

• Collaborative editing: Choose when to enable co-authoring, so you can work on a document together in real time while still maintaining version control. 

Before we launch the above new features, we'll be doing a smaller, interim release which introduces a refreshed interface and streamlined navigation within the add-in. This update lays the foundation for the transformative enhancements that will follow.

What's changing in the interim release?

Current navigation:

When you log in today, you're presented with the following options:

• Create: to setup new templates or edit existing
• Assistant: to access the AI Assistant and the Definitions feature
• Review: to access playbooks, summaries, and Review Pro
• Collaborate: Word for the Web only - to access tasks and conversations of the associated request

New navigation:

The new navigation aims to make features easier to find as they are elevated to the main navigation. 

The new menu includes:

• Review Pro: users with Review Pro access will see this option first, which was previously accessed via 'Review'
• AI Assistant: to access the AI Assitant, which was previously accessed via 'Assistant'
• Collaborate: Word for the Web only - to access tasks and conversations of the associated request
• Summary: previously accessed via 'Review'
• Playbooks: previously accessed via 'Review'
• Definitions: previously accessed via 'Assistant'
• Build: to setup new templates or edit existing, previously accessed via 'Create'

Additionally, in the new app header, under the ellipsis we’ve added a link to customer hub, a refresh session action and the logged-in user alias. We’ve also moved Log out here too:

Licence Type Permissions

The following licence types have access the the following menu items

• Power Pro - Can access: Review Pro, AI Assistant, Summary, Playbooks, Definitions, Build. 
• Power - Can access: AI Assistant, Summary, Playbooks, Definitions, Build. 
• Collaborator Pro - Can access: Review Pro, AI Assistant, Summary, Playbooks, Definitions. 
• Collaborator - Can access: AI Assistant, Summary, Playbooks, Definitions. 
• Requestor - Cannot access the Summize Word add-in. 

A note to IT and security teams:

Please be advised this update involves a change to the domain used by the Summize Word Add-in. If your organization has previously whitelisted Summize domains using a wildcard (*.summize.com), you don’t need to make any changes. However, if you’ve only whitelisted a specific subdomain (for example, office.summize.com), your IT team will need to update your allow list to include the wildcard above or add the new domain shown below.  

The exact subdomain depends on your data centre location (if you are unsure, check which URL you use to access Summize):
