Overview
Conversations gives stakeholders a secure way to communicate and collaborate on signed contracts in real-time.
Start a new conversation
You can start a new conversation from the conversations section of the tool panel, as well as from a specific piece of contract text or a clause summary.
Start from the tool panel
To from the tool panel, follow these simple steps:
- Navigate to the Repository Table.
- Locate the contract you want to start a conversation for and click it go to the Contract View.
- Navigate to the ‘Conversations’ section in the tool panel.
- Click the “+ New conversation’ button in the top-right of the section.
- A modal will appear with some options.
- Enter a subject name for the conversation in the text field called ‘Subject’.
- Enter your comment in the text area called ‘Comment’.
Note: You can use ‘@’ symbol to @mention users in the comment section to notify them via email. The list of available users you can @mention for a contract is restricted based on folder visibility.
Note: You can use the ‘#’ symbol to include a reference link to an existing task or clause in the comment section. - Click ‘Start Conversation’ to complete the action.
- Your new conversation will be added to the conversations section of the tool panel under the ‘Active’ tab and any task or clause references applied using the ‘#’ symbol will be included as links.

Start from contract text
You can also start a new conversation from a specific piece of text within the contract as a reference for discussion.
To start from text within the contract, follow these simple steps:
- Navigate to the Repository Table.
- Locate the contract you want to start a conversation for and click it go to the Contract View.
- From the contract preview on the left, find and highlight the text you want to start a conversation from.
- A menu will appear underneath the highlighted text.
- Click ‘ New conversation’.
- A modal will appear with some options. Note: The highlighted text will appear in the comment section and will be included as a reference.
- To complete the action, follow steps 7-9 outlined in the ‘Start from the tool panel’ section above.

Start from clause
You can also start a new conversation from a clause in the Clause Summary section.
To start from a clause, follow these simple steps:
- Navigate to the Repository Table.
- Locate the contract you want to start a conversation for and click it go to the Contract View.
- Navigate to the Clause Summary section of the tool panel.
- Click the conversations icon to the right of the clause you want to start a new conversation from.
- A modal will appear with some options. Note: The clause name will appear in the subject field as a reference.
- To complete the action you can follow steps 7-9 outlined in the section above called ‘Start from the tool panel’.

Reply to a conversation
To reply to a conversation, follow these simple steps:
- From the Contract View, navigate to the ‘Conversations’ section in the tool panel.
- Click the ‘Reply’ button under the last comment of the conversation you want to reply to.
- A new comment box will appear.
- Enter your reply in the comment section.
Note: You can use ‘@’ symbol to @mention users in the comment section to notify them via email. The list of available users you can @mention for a contract is restricted based on folder visibility.
Note: You can use the ‘#’ symbol to include a reference link to an existing task or clause in the comment section. - Click the send icon to the right underneath the comment section to complete the action.
Note: To cancel your reply click the ‘X’ icon next to the send icon. - Your reply will be added as a new comment in the conversation.

Edit a comment
To edit a comment, follow these simple steps:
- From the Contract View, navigate to the ‘Conversations’ section in the tool panel.
- Hover your cursor over the comment you want to edit and click the ‘edit’ icon to the right.
- The editable comment section will appear where you can make changes to the comment.
- Click the ‘edit’ icon to the right under the comment section to apply your changes.

Resolve a conversation
When an ‘Active’ conversation has concluded, you can set it to ‘Resolved’ to help track conversation activity and manage build up.
To resolve a conversation, follow these simple steps:
- From the Contract View, navigate to the ‘Conversations’ section in the tool panel.
- Click the ellipsis icon to the right of the conversation title.
- A menu will appear with some options.
- Click the ‘Resolve’ option.
- The conversation will be moved to the ‘Resolved’ tab.
Note: Resolving a conversation will prevent any further replies or edits.

Delete a comment
To delete a comment, follow these simple steps:
- From the Contract View, navigate to the ‘Conversations’ section in the tool panel.
- Hover your cursor over the comment you want to delete and click the ‘delete’ icon to the right.
Note: You cannot delete a comment if it is the only comment in the conversation. Instead you must delete the conversation. - A confirmation modal will appear.
- Click the ‘Delete Comment’ button to complete the action.
- The comment will be deleted.

Delete a conversation
To delete a conversation, follow these simple steps:
- From the Contract View, navigate to the ‘Conversations’ section in the tool panel.
- Click the ellipsis icon to the right of the conversation title.
- A menu will appear with some options.
- Click the ‘Delete’ option.
- A confirmation modal will appear.
- Click the ‘Delete Conversation’ button to complete the action.
- The conversation and all of its comments will be deleted.
